- Percy Selves
Percy Nolan Selves, 81, of Greenleaf, died Monday, Feb. 25, 1991, at his home of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Mr. Grant Yearsley of' Garden Valley will officiate. A private family inurnment will be at a later date at the Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Selves was born Feb. 10, 1910, at Durham, Mo., the son of Thomas and Alice McChristy Selves. He married Vivian McCullough March 22, 1935, at Philadelphia, Mo. They resided in Ewing, Mo., until the spring of 1937 at which time they moved to LaGrande, Ore. They moved to Idaho in the spring of 1948 and to Greenleaf in 1970 where they had since resisted. Over the years he was a tradesman, working as a welder, carpenter, dairyman and farmer. He worked for Crookham Seed Co. at Caldwell for three years before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church at LaGrange, Mo. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fan of all sports. He loved to play pool with friends and entered many tournaments.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian of Greenleaf; three sons, Forrest Selves of Pocatello, Thomas Selves of Las Cruces, N.M., and Boyd Selves of Santa Clara, Calif.; five daughters, Vera Matthews of Reno, Nev., Janice Brockman of Long Beach, Calif., Ruth York of Caldwell, Leta Ryals of Boise and Joan Alioto of Floriston, Calif.; a sister, Catherine Solter of LaGrange, Mo.; a brother, Jack Selves of Pendleton, Ore.; a stepbrother, Cecil Yarbrough of Caldwell; 30 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roy Selves; a son-in-law, Bob York and three grandsons.
Friends may call from .7 to 9 p.m. today at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
